Annie & Kate are an indie pop/rock, acoustic duet on the rise! Born and raised in the live music capital of the world of Austin, Texas, these fraternal twins are multi-instrumentalists and songwriters with an extensive performance history and three original recording projects under their belts. With their signature blend of harmonies, Annie & Kate were named in the top five under 18 bands by the Austin Music Awards for four consecutive years, and were also selected among the top teen bands by Austin radio station KUTX. They are voting members of the Grammys, have performed in many notable venues, and have received many music awards and accolades.
BACKGROUND: Annie & Kate have been in music for most of their lives. They started piano lessons at age six with private instructors, and within a few more years, they added several more instruments. Between the two of them, they each sing, play piano, and play a variety of other instruments. Starting at age 10 and for several years, the girls were a part of three different teen bands, performing vocals, electric guitar, piano, bass and drums, In August 2011, they decided to start out as a music duet.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Annie & Kate have been performing steadily in Texas for over eight years. Their musical resume includes performances at venues such as the Austin airport, Rodeo Austin, Fiesta San Antonio, Threadgill's, Warehouse Live, the House of Blues (Dallas and Houston), the San Antonio River Walk, the University of Houston and several unofficial SXSW events. They have been requested by many organizations to sing the National Anthem at local events, and in January 2013, had the opportunity to sing at a Houston Rockets game. At the end of that year, Annie & Kate won first place in a national teen band competition hosted by the House of Blues Music Forward Foundation, placing them among six winning bands across the United States.
Annie & Kate have been featured in the Austin American Statesman, We Are Austin, The Round Rock Leader, KDRP Radio, BalconyTV Austin, The Deli Magazine, WebRadio San Antonio KXEV Stone City Radio, The CW Austin, UpLate Austin, KGSR Austin, KUTX Austin, KPFT Houston, Songwriters Across Texas Radio, Women of Substance Radio & Podcast, and 365 Radio Network. They have performed for several local charity events, and for charitable organizations such as The Fender Music Foundation, Tunes for Tots, the cities of Austin and San Antonio, and Houston Via Colori.
In addition to their Austin Music Awards stated above, their song "My Own Way" was also named in the top ten Austin Songs of the Year for 2015. Annie & Kate were also named into the Asterope Young Artist Program as representatives for Central Texas. They are both ASCAP members and are voting members of the Grammys. In March 2015, they received an "Annie & Kate Day" proclamation from the City of Austin, and also received a second proclamation from the City of Round Rock in July 2015. Annie & Kate were also selected as semi-finalists in the Unsigned Only Music Competition in the teen category in 2015.
MUSIC: Annie & Kate have three self-released recording works. Their first EP, Lost and Found, was released in September 2012, and features five original tunes. Their first full length, 8 song CD, Running Out Of Time, was released in February 2014. Annie & Kate's third album, The Storm Within, was released in January 2017. All three projects were produced by Omar Vallejo (from the popular Austin band VALLEJO and 512 Studios), with music participation from Haydn Vitera (VITERA) and Kevin Abbenante (KALEIDER). Their songs, "My Own Way" and "Man In The Mask", are featured on Reverbnation Discover featuring unsigned music artists.
