Later this month, we are scheduled to perform at 18 Below's The Last Hurrah, a fundraiser event for the organization, with which we've worked for some time. We are excited to be one of the featured artists on 18 Below's Facebook page for this event! Mark your calendar to come out to The Long Center on August 23 at 6:30PM! Check out our interview here!

Today our featured band is Annie & Kate, a duo that has performed in several 18Below shows and is looking forward to The Last Hurrah in 15 days. Check out their interview below!
Q: What inspires you as a band?
A: Music is just something that has always been a big part of our lives. We always listened to it when we were little, and since we started piano at six years old it's kind of been a main constant with us. Our inspiration comes from a variety of things -- a cool new song, meaningful lyrics, an enthusiastic crowd at one of our shows. We also like other forms of art and try to draw from that into our music.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being musicians?
A: Many of our songs have a message or a story behind it, so it's been a great way for us to express ourselves. But it's also just something we've always done, and can't imagine ourselves doing anything else.
Q: How would you describe your music to someone who's never heard it before?
A: We classify our music as indie rock, but we'd have to say the word 'harmonic' in there as well. We either take turns singing or we sing in harmony, never in unison. It's became kind of a signature thing for us.
Thanks to Annie & Kate for their interview! You can see Annie & Kate perform at the Long Center for The Last Hurrah on August 23rd.
